About Us
Andrew Salverda and Dan Matz, the founders, are long-time friends and teachers (Urban School, SF Friends, Randall Museum, Nueva). Other founding members are surfers and poets, tech entrepreneurs and professors.
Together we are building a tight-knit, inclusive community of good-natured woodworkers – accomplished and amateur alike – to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Integral to this vision is our commitment to making woodworking accessible to a wide range of San Franciscans. We promise to help you get comfortable working on our machines, to guide you as you build your first projects, and to support you with flexible tuition and bench rental fees as our finances allow. (See details about our sliding scale here.)
Please join us! Rent a bench, take a class or lend a hand as we launch this endeavor. We look forward to seeing you at Mission Community Woodshop.
